As known that the Lantern Festival is a traditional Chinese festival, which is on the 15th of the first lunar month(the first full moon of the year), also the very first festival after Chinese New Year this year 2021.
Chinese started to celebrate the Lantern Festival from the very old age. Like most other Chinese festivals, there is also a story behind the Festival. It is believed that Yuanxiao is named after a palace maid, Yuanxiao, of Emperor Wu Di of the Han Dynasty. In that times, maids are unable to leave palace. She is so sad since she miss her families. Finally, Yuanxiao met her families.
so this becomes a festival for people having fun and unity. On the night of the festival, people go on streets guessing lantern riddles, setting off fireworks, eating yuanxiao, viewing lanterns. There is really a lot of fun for the young and the old.
Since it is the working day but not holiday, to celebrate the Lantern Festival, our company prepared the well known must eat food yuanxiao for employees to eat. Yuanxiao is a kind of sweet dumpling, which is made with sticky rice flour filled with sweet stuffing.
As you can see in the pictures, yuanxiao is round in shape, it symbolizes people ‘s good wishes for completeness, sweetness and happiness throught out the whole year.
The festival also marks the end of the celebrations of the Chinese New Year. So most workers would leave howntown and back to work from far away from hometown.
